Art and Healing Barbara Ganim

Seeking to form a group of 4-6 people to collectively read and practice the healing principles found in this highly recommended book. The book and it's contents may be reviewed on Amazon.

As quoted:

Artists have always known intuitively what science is just beginning to discover: that creating a visual image through any medium can produce physical and emotional benefits for both the creator as well as those who view it. Most important, you don't need to think of yourself as an artist or even believe you have any "talent" to tap into the healing powers of art.

Workshop with group discussion, writing prompt exercises & feedback sessions.

Students are asked to bring 1 finished poem in any genre to share with others for a feedback session.  Please bring 8-10 photocopies of your poem, so we can read the poem together.  Please bring the tools of your trade - pens, pencils, notebooks - as we will be doing guided, in-class writing exercises.  This is a hands-on poetry workshop!  We will enjoy open discussions with a supportive environment for poets at all levels.

$20 per person. Registration required

Ekphrastic poetry is the conversation between two pieces of art. The writer interprets a work of visual art & then creates a narrative in verse form that represents his or her reaction to that painting, photograph, sculpture or other artistic creation.

$125 - Class limit 5 min. - 8 max. students

Beginning oil painting concentrating on "Alla Prima Painting" (Begin & finish a painting in one sitting.) and "Plein Air Painting" (Painting outside) in this 5 week class. We will cover the basics of composition, value, and color using a limited pallette of oil paint.

Beginners Packet: additional $35: Yours to keep - 5 canvas boards, 2 brushes & small pallet filled with required oil paints. Material list provided with registration. Packets to be ordered no later than 2 weeks before class.

Lynn M. Rix began to paint in 1995 while living in the South of France. She continues to attend workshops from leading "plein-air" painters in France, California, Connecticut, Cape Cod, and Wisconsin. " I love the challenge of looking at a scene and simplifying it into shapes, colors and my own vision. Painting on site, with quick brush work and a limited palette, forces me to work spontaneously. I strive to give the viewer a quick snapshot of that particular moment in time; an impression of an effect of light I felt to be beautiful." Her works have been in numerous juried shows, group shows and are a part of both private and corporate collections. She is a member of Oil Painters of America, League of Milwaukee Artists, Cedarburg Artists Guild, Wisconsin Museum of Art, Plymouth Art Center, Wisconsin Plein Air Painters Assoc. and PortalWisconsin.org. Her art is represented in several Wisconsin art galleries.
